A new era of digital risks has begun in 2024, with artificial intelligence (AI) and its numerous forms—such as generative AI and artificial general intelligence (AGI)—leading the list of security issues. Cyber threats, disinformation efforts, and digital attacks are still very much a possibility. The latest worldwide disturbance resulting from a Microsoft Windows software update bug serves as a sobering reminder of the weaknesses in our networked digital infrastructure. To defend both individual privacy and national security, it is essential that the public and private sectors in India prioritize cybersecurity, invest in cutting-edge preventive measures, and cultivate a culture of digital alertness as we traverse this new digital world.
